St Joseph’s is proud to be a Catholic School. Everything we aim to achieve will be based on the teaching and practice of the Catholic Church.  Through this Catholic ethos we strive to develop in the school community respect and care for everyone.

In partnership between staff, children, parents, parish and the wider community we want to give every child the opportunity to fulfil their potential by developing their own gifts and talents.  We aim to create a successful learning environment where all feel welcome, safe and part of the community.  We wish through the whole life of our school for every child to realise their own worth and value.

At St Joseph’s RC Primary School, we intend to build a PSHE and RSE curriculum that nurtures and develops children through the learning of key concepts, skills and the understanding of personal, social and moral concepts. This will be achieved through a carefully thought out scheme and memorable experiences.
The National Curriculum aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
  • develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
  • are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future
At St Joseph’s RC Primary School, we understand the immense value that technology plays not only in supporting the Computing and whole school curriculum but overall in the day-to-day life of our school. Our aims are to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum for Computing whilst also providing enhanced collaborative learning opportunities, engagement in rich content and supporting pupil’s conceptual understanding of new concepts which support the needs of all our pupils.

At St Joseph’s we aim to inspire children’s curiosity to learn about the past and to learn from the past. We want our children to develop a love of history and see how it has shaped the world we live in. Our children learn key facts and concepts alongside the development of skills such as an understanding of chronology, how to analyse and evaluate historical evidence, how to empathise with people from different area eras and how to compare and contrast life in different periods.
The intention of the Geography Curriculum at St Joseph’s Primary School is to inspire children’s curiosity and interest to explore the world that we live in and its people, which aims to ignite a love of learning.
